Common English Name: Guava (leaf).
Botanical Name: Psidium guajava.
Plant Family: Myrtaceae.
Method of Extraction: Steam distillation of the leaves.
Origin: Indigenous to South and Central America, and the Caribbean.
Plant Description: An evergreen tree or shrub with fruits that vary in size from an apricot to a grapefruit. The flesh of the fruit is white, pink or red, with a (mainly) green-yellow, or sometimes red, skin.
Main Chemical Components: Monoterpenes, oxides, sesquiterpenes.
Blends Well With: Carrier oils; essential oils.
Uses: Damaged skin, damaged hair, irritated skin, helps to support healthy skin, hair, and nails.
Fun Fact: Guava is extremely popular in its native countries and has been used for such things as house-building to medicinal purposes.
Cautions for Use: None noted for general aromatherapy use. Use in dilution with a carrier oil.
